Federated Dental Premium Cost-Sharing: Implementation Paused
Posted Date: October 16, 2026
This notice is for Federated members who received a letter from ORS dated September 23, 2026, titled "Important Information About Your Retiree Dental Premiums." If you did not receive that letter, this does not affect you.
What this means for you
ORS is pausing the dental premium cost-sharing described in that letter. The changes will not take effect at this time, and your dental premium will not change as described in the letter. Please disregard the premium calculation and amounts in the letter.
What you need to do
If you want to keep your current dental plan, you don't need to do anything. If you made or are considering a change to your dental coverage because of the letter, or have questions about Open Enrollment, please contact the ORS Health Team by November 30, 2026.
Why this is happening
The City is reviewing the language of San José Municipal Code § 3.28.2030, which governs Federated dental premium costs. ORS will pause implementation while that review takes place. ORS will notify members directly when the review concludes.
Why you received the letter
We sent the letter because you may be enrolled in a Federated dental plan, and it described changes planned to begin in 2027. We sent it as early as possible because of the Open Enrollment timeline.
We understand this has been frustrating, and we are sorry for any stress it has caused.
